Devonport High School for Boys
Plymouth,

Rooftoppers
This book is full of romance and love. Characters are brilliantly described as are the settings. Although there wasn't much action and hair raising moments in the book the thought gone into the book made up for it!

The Bunker Diary
This book was amazing to read. You felt like you knew how the characters were feeling and they almost came out the page they were described in so much detail. The only disappointing bit for me was the ending. It was such an anti climax and ruined all the amazing writing at the beginning and the middle.

Ghost hawk By Susan Cooper
This book is a very powerful and moving story with an unexpected twist in the middle but the story moves on still wound around a great plot with all the generations taking part.

The Bunker Diary
A great story that is sad but fun and exciting. All shall love it; you shall anyway. "I thought he was blind. That's how he got me."

And so we read on...
The group have been eating up this year's nominations. The general consensus is that some of the themes in the novel are both complex and mature. It's excellent to see some YA books that challenge ideas and expectations.
