Menston,

how to teach quantum physics to your dog
One day when at a book shop I was looking for something original, or at least something different from the normal books I read, I came across this charming little title that looked like it had been just waiting for me. It didn’t disappoint. Chad Orzel, the author of this book, has done a marvellous job of creating something that will not only teach you something new, but will make you laugh while doing so. Though the book does seem a little slow, I think that can be put down to rereading each chapter just to understand what was being said. If you’re not interested in science, I wouldn’t suggest this book to you, as it is filled to the brim with knowledge on the subject of the title. I can’t say its all science, as there are occasionally little snippets of his “real” conversations with his dog. If you’re interested by this quirky title, I recommend it fully, as it would be barking mad (see what I did there) not to. Certainly worth a read.

varjack paw
Varjack Paw I really don’t like this book. I absolutely adore this book. S.F Said showed that he was incredibly talented writer in his first book, so much so that despite having only written 2, he remains one of my favourite authors of all time. Varjack Paw is a Mesopotamian blue, a rare species of cat, who only wishes to leave outside to get a taste of real life, away from the small cottage his family and owner live. He then gets this opportunity, but not in the way he planned... This is a coming of age epic with great, likable characters, detailed descriptions of Varjack’s own journey, and an all around original feel to it. Hopefully it will be remembered for years to come.

First Impressions!
we looked at some short listed books and heres what we thought: Being Billy: "Nothing original" "Looks boyey, don't like the colour green" My Name Is Mina: "I would read the blurb" "Looks uninteresting" "A bit 3-d" "Appears to be about a girl and feathers" "The title is so long it sounds smug" "I would probably read it" "It sounds like its trying to be meaningful too hard" Annexed "It looks like a poetry book because there is no description" "Would read because Anne Frank mentioned"

Review of The Soddit
Of all the many books I have read in my life, which is a quite a numbe I can tell you, The Soddit springs to mind when asked about my favourite of them all. Adam Roberts has created a masterpeice with amazing tension, a humerous array of parodies, and a satisfying conclusion making you beg for more. From Smug the Dragon and Goblins who are birds, to Dwarfs spelt the right way and Sollum, this book is a treat to all you parody and Tolken fans
