Brentwood Ursuline Convent High
Brentwood,

When Mr Dog Bites
We have had a few problems with this book. Our reading group is made up of largely year 7 and 8 students and we are a girls school. There are some words in this book that are quite strong so the librarians have said that we have to be year 9 or above to take it our unless we have a letter from home saying that it is okay for us to read it. The idea of the book sounds really good but most of us havent read it.

Carnegie is back at BUCHS
We launched our bid for Carnegie fame a couple of weeks ago by inviting Natasha, the owner of our local bookshop in Brentwood, The Chicken and Frog, to join us and give a brief synopsis of the books. A wonderfully colourful character, Natasha made all the books sound absolutely fabulous and they were all immediately borrowed by students making the librarians wonder if they had bought enough copies. Natasha also enlightened us as to the rather strange name of her shop. She said that the name came from the old joke about a chicken and a frog who walked into a book shop. The chicken stood in the middle of the shop and said "book, book, book" and the frog replied "Read it, read it, read it".
