The Hate U Give
The Hate U Give is an excellent and exciting novel which revolves around the Black Lives Matter campaign and how racism occurs today. When Starr's best friend is shot (the second time that has happened) just because he asked if she was okay, the campaign is on to get justice for him. But with gangs and corruption involved in the court case, who will succeed?

After The Fire
Hill presents a brilliant and cleverly written novel with After The Fire. Moonbeam, a teenager who lives in an controlling and almost extremist Christian camp, decides she has to escape. So, when the FBI arrive, and they are told to open fire, which side will she shoot? Hill has woven this story well, with it taking place after the fire (literally) with flashbacks to the time before, as she retells the story to the friendly pyschologist and police officer helping in the case. With twists and turns and suprises both in the past and Moonbeam's current, the story unfolds beautifully.

Saint Death
Saint Death shows a mostly unheard of side of Mexico, on the border where gangs rule. When Arturo's friend steals some money he shouldn't have, can he cheat death herself? Or will she take them both? Saint Death is interesting however quite boring, and the climax is quite frustrating because Arturo is just doing really dumb stuff. From there, the ending is pretty clear, so there isn't much tension. Personally, I also didn't really feel for the characters, I wasn't really rooting for them to survive etc.

The best book ever
We both love Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. So much so we dressed up as Evangeline and Mare for Halloween. So it's the best book ever, and the War Storm teaser trailer (I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT) is now our group video.

Release by Patrick Ness
Apart from 'awkward' scenes, I really enjoyed reading this book. It talked about lots of important and relevant issues young people face today, and how they deal with them. The ghost story that interrupted the chapters every so often only made a little sense to me, but doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the ending any more.
