Book Review
The Stars at Oktober Bend by Glenda Millard is an emotional book about 15 year old Alice. She loves to write poetry and make flys, but something inside her is broken. Then, Manny James comes to town and changes Alice's life forever. Will Alice manage to get her life back on track? I like this book because its set out differently to other books and you really feel for Alice. By Izzy Moss

HI, Diamond is one of Jacqueline Wilson's amazing books that captures the reader in every sentence. Book review 1 - All The Truth Thats In Me
I thought that all the truth thats in me was a very good book. It took me a while to get into it as nothing interesting happened at the beggining. But when i got into it , i found it was a very good piece of writing. It was a bit ... naughty in some places but it was very good. I liked the way the auther described everything in such fine detail. Towards the end, it grew boring again, but that is probably because i am used to more adventure-filled writing. At the moment, i am struggleing to get into Ghost Hawk. LucyHa

Code name Verity review by Katie B :)
Hey, its Katie B. I thought code name verity was quite a good book but it did go on a bit. It was still quite interesting though and I think the plot of the book was really clever. Not many writers have wrote about it like that so it was interesting to look at it from different points of view. Overall, I would rate it 3.5/5 stars or 7/10... :)

A boy and a bear in a boat - Review
I have finished reading a boy and a bear in a boat: I finished in 3 days :O !!!!! It was a strange read but I enjoyed it all the same. My favourite part is right at the end when the boat breaks so the boy uses the bear as a substitute. I think the end is a bit inconclusive though. Where are they going? When will they get there? Will they even get there? Anyway I reccomend a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy and a bear in a boat with a boy.... :D

Wonder by Amy b
I have just finished reading Wonder and I thought that it was quite interesting. However, I thought that it went on for far too long, considering the story line.
Posted on: 03 Jun 2013

In Darkness
I found In darkness a good book better than code name verity but not the best book i have read. It is about a boy that is in a gang. It has alot of voilence in it, it also has swearing in it to. I think this book is more of a boys book than girls (that is only my opinion). The boys father has been killed and sister kidnapped, his sister is unique because nobody else can have her eyes. I do think it was a bit confusing at the start though but when you are a bit more in the book you will understand it. By Cameron H

Code name Verity :)
Hi, its Katie B. I've started my new book called 'Code Name Verity.' What I've read of it so far is very descriptive and realistic. It is set in the war so has quite a lot of action in it although it is set at quite a slow pace. I like how the author has included present and past tenses in the book because it adds variety to the story. I'll update soon!! :)
Posted on: 20 May 2013

Wonder by Elliott!:)
I have just finished reading Wonder and I could honestly say that I have read better books!:(The author over explained everything in this book and for me(as an action book reader) it could of been more exciting! I understand why most girls like this book but as a boy I thought it was a bit too sobby for me and it felt like it went on forever! But if you need uplifting or whatever I recommend this book but just as a normal read I would recommend something more fun and action packed like The Hunger Games!:)3/5

A Greyhound of a Girl
This is a very heartwarming book, by Roddy Doyle, where a girl meets her Great Grandmother who died of flu many many years ago.Her current grandmother is dying in an extremely depressing hospital and her mother wants to wish her well. It is an interesting premise, switching perspectives is quite interesting, but sometimes it may break the flow of the book. If you can pay extreme attention, you may catch the greyhound references. I barely could. It's a very nice story, I'm not going to spoil the ending for anyone, but it was quite heartwarming. By Ariana

The Weight of Water
I have really enjoyed this book because it was written as if she was a Polish girl and even though I'm not Polish, my great grampa was Polish. I also liked it because it was very realistic and, in a way, it would help you get through some problems in life like moving to new school and facing nasty comments. As I have already said, I have really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading my new book, Midwinterblood!

A Boy and a Bear in a Boat
In this very unrealistic, original book, a boy climbs into a boat with a bear. Not my kind of decision, but lets roll with it. They go on a exciting adventure in a small boat. The only thing that really bugs me about this book, is that the ending is extremely inconclusive. What happens to them? Let me know darn it! By Ariana

Greyhound of a girl
I thought this book was really good. I really enjoyed it and I think it was a good story. It was happy but quite sad at the end. I didn't cry though. It was quite a short story but I would reccomend it.

A Boy and a bear in a boat
I liked this book-it is very original and quite funny.I would have liked to know a bit more at the end since the ending was a bit abrupt. It didn't explain things as well as I would like.

The Weight Of Water
I love the weight of water it was a easy read for me. I love how she just let go of everything including the bullying when she was in the water.I liked the way the book was set out, its chapters were very small but this was not a problem for me.The story moved me and I found the love between her and William was not unrealistic as I have found in other books. I was surprised when her father was not willing to go back with her mother.I would rate this book a 8.5/10 as it was a brilliant read. :)

The weight of water review, by Katie Brown :)
At first I wasn't sure that this book would be as good as I hoped. Its poetic form didn't appeal to me; but as I started to read on I found that the story grasped hold of me and wouldn't let go. Kasienka had to leave her home, school and life behind her. Armed with only a small wash bag and a breaking heart, Kasienka and her Mother set off for England. There, they start the search for her long, lost farther. If you think Kasienka has run into enough trouble already, then your wrong At school, the girls ignore her, the boys think shes weird and the teachers just can't be be bothered with her - and with growing trouble at home, Kasienka needs a way out. This is until she meets a mysterious boy called William. For once, Kasienkas found someone who will listen to her and stick by her. But will this new happiness last forever or will it get pulled down by the weight of the water? I loved the way Sarah Crossman expressed Kasienkas deep emotions and thoughts and I found that the romance between William and Kasienka was more realistic than in other books I've read. It took a while to understand what was happening at first, but overall, I would rate this book 8/10. :) x

Code name verity review
I did not find this book very interesting because it went on and on. It has alot of swearing in this book but i can uderstand that because you would swear if you were being torchered. I am not letting any more of the story away. I don't think ot was my type of book. I prefere action. Apperently it is more of a girls book to read. I did not get into the story much i did not feel all the characters emotions. By Cameron Haynes. 7SAR

Midwinterblood
I really love this book. It is a bit confusing but it makes sense in the end. It has many different stories all about the island of blessed and someone called Eric and someone called Merle. Some of the stories are sad, some are happy. It's a great book and I would definitly reccomend it.

Midwinterblood
Hello, my name is Holly I've read Midwinterblood I think it's a very good book but quite confusing. It has a hooking storyline and a its clever but I think its not a very good ending and defeats the point of the story. The story is about 2 people in love <3 and live 7 different lives together. :) :) :)

A Boy and a Bear in a Boat review by Leah
I have really enjoyed reading A Boy and a Bear in a Boat because it is funny, well illustrated and RANDOM! I think it's random because it has a sea monster being caught on a sort of fishing trip which I think is very imaginative especially because the picture that goes with it is really funny! The only thing I'm worried about in getting a new book is that I've enjoyed this on soooo much I don't think any of the other books that I get will live up to it's good standards.

Maggot moon
I have already read Maggot Moon by Sally Gardiner and it is actually rather good.Only problem is,it is rather confusing at the start of the book since it doesn't explain what is going on and it contains quite a few swear words. It may have 100 chapters but some of them are much less than a page long. By Amy Bradbury.

My name is Ariana and I'm 12. I enjoy humorous books and late night comedy shows. It's one of the few things that can make me laugh. I like to see what writers interperet as their world. Wierd, funny or a post apocolyptic distopian future. I play piano, I love penguins and I usually have to be in the mood to read. I also play video games, which makes me a bit of a procrastinator. I've read quite a lot of book series, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and I'm close to finishing the Inkheart trilogy and the Twilight saga.

Bonjour!
Hello, my name is Leah and I am 12. I love animals and I'm vegetarian. I dance at Splitz dance centre in Belper. The dances I do are modern, jazz, ballet and two different types of tap. I play the flute, descant and tenor recorder. I play them all at South East Derbyshire Music Centre in Ilkeston along with Holly, Philippa, Abigail and Jess who are all my best friends (but not all of them). I love reading but I probably read too much as my parents know all to well. At the moment I am reading A Boy and a Bear in a Boat and so far I'm finding it quite funny and a good book to read!

My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece
Hello! I have read My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece and I LOVED it! I don't exactly know what made it so exciting, but I read it all as soon as I possibly could! Jamie and his older sister Jas have nothing but an ordinary life, after Jas' twin sister, Rose, gets blown up by muslims in 9/11, Their life takes a massive leap downhill; Mum has left to live in London with another man, Dad drinks rapidly and hardly ever speaks, and they move away from as many muslims as they can. Until, Jamie meets Sunya, a muslim girl from his class who's heartwarming and bubbley frienship makes Jamie see the true side of Muslims... I recommmend this book to everyone! See you all next Tuesday! Charlotte Skinner

Another lovely Tuesday meeting!
It was our first official book swap and despite some minor hiccups almost everyone's got something new to read. It was really interesting to hear people's different opinions of the books - as always, horses for courses and different readers enjoy different books. Jess and Isobel are taking the blogging mantle this week so look out for some exciting posts from them. Otherwise I hope everyone enjoys their new books!

Hey People!
I know this is a bit last minute to blog but I totally forgot! For the people who know me, that's a sigh and rolled eyes. Anyway, I'm on my second book at the moment which I actually haven't started yet. The first book I read was called Between Shades of Grey, and you can find my review on the Reviews page. Now I'm reading Small Change For Stuart, which got bad reviews off the person I got it from. Well, I guess that's it until the next week's bloggers come along! See ya! Tobey

'My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece'
Hello there! I know its a bit late, to post anything, but i've been busy all week. Anyway, back on subject, the book I read for Carnegie Book Award was called 'My sister lives on the mantelpiece'. I found it a good book, a really good read, but slightly depressing! Its about a girl who gets blown up by muslim terrorists. Enough said! However i found that i could not stop reading. Very heart warming, and 'honesty you could cut with a knife'! So all in all a very good read. Eliot C-Hill.
