The Scheme
I think the scheme is very interesting as it provides you with a chance to meet peopel who you normally might not talk with. It also provides you with a chance to read books that you might not normally read.

First Meeting
Yesterday afternoon we had our first meeting. We all decided to look at the front covers of the books and discuss what we thought was attractive and appealing about them. We then took it in turns to read the blurb out to the group. This was great- the blurb really sells the book! I opene the discussion by describing the reasons I chose 'A Greyhound of a Girl', I have lost relatives in the past and felt I could learn something from this book. We all agreed that personal experience can affect how we select books to read. It was very interesting to hear what the groups immediate thoughts were about their books. One of us felt truly gripped by the blurb for 'In Darkness' by Nick Lake. Another member of the group also commented that the front cover of 'Wonder' by R. J. Palacio had a particularly interesting quote 'You can't blend in when you were born to stand out'. What do you think? This morning we got a new recruit and we are very pleased to welcome her to the group. We decided to meet every two weeks to allow time to get a good chunk of the books read. Then I went home last night and almost finished my book, looks like I will be the first to swap, or will I? Miss Bower
