Hello we are back from easter and we have been reading many books. Frasier has read 'liar and spy'. the book is about a child called George who meets a self appointed spy called safer and before he knows it george has become a spy recruit and his first assignment is to track the mysterious Mr. X. Jarvis has been reading Ghost Hawk it is about a young man who has to become a man by surviving the winter in the wild and can not communicate with anyone until he suffers a near death experience and then is allowed to hunt and so when he is allowed to hunt and succeded he is allowed to come back to his village as a man but his village has been invaded by the White Men. James has read 'The Executioner's Daughter'. It follows the story of Moss, the daughter of the man who chops people's heads off. Moss dreams of a better life outside the Tower of London but could a greater, supernatural threat be stopping her?
We have also talked about the Poetry competition ( ALCS). Some of our yr 9-10 pupils are going to have go which is brill.
Mrs Jones read The Bunker Diary over the easter break. It was agripping read but she was disapointed in the ending! The ending left you confused and down/sad.

Rhosnesni trip to Glyndwr University
On Tuesday 25th of March, Pupils from Rhosnesni took a visit to Glyndwr University. They were shown many books by diffrent authors such as 'The Fury'. This book is about a man who lived an average life and woke up to the whole world hating him. There is only a small group left and they have to find out why the world wants to tare them to shreds. Also, there were 2 other authors and also a comic book writer came to the event.
James is currently reading The Executioners Daughter and he thinks that it's really good and highly reccommends it.

Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals
This week we have been looking at the shortlist from the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway book awards. So far, we have looked at the Kate Greenaway shortlist and 'judged the books by their covers' and then read the stories inside. We concluded the following:
'This is not my hat' was quite dark and enjoyed the moral of the story which was 'do not steal'.
'The Dark' was scary for a children's book and would be scary as a bedtime story.
'Paper Dolls' was a colourful book which had a happy feel throughout.
'Oliver' was very heartwarming and the reader could empathise with the character.
'The Day the Crayons Quit' was another colourful book with great illustrations and a good read for children.
'Mouse, Bird, Snake, Wolf' was a book more suited to children of an older age group, maybe 11-12 years old. But illustrations were very good.
See you next week.

World Book Day 2014
Hello this is our world book day blog. It is late going up because the website was unavailable at the time. For world book day we had a vote to determine which book our school likes the best. The winner turned out to be the popular childrens book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Mr Stink by David Walliams was the close runner up.
Thanks For Reading.
