Somervale Carnegie Reading Group 2018
Radstock, Somerset

This year's books...
So, Somervale avid readers...what do you think about this year's selection of books? There seems to be opinion that some of the books have a very adult theme to them! How do you feel about reading books that can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable when they talk about difficult subjects? I guess by reading more we can hope to understand more...and that can only be a good thing-right? Mrs C :)

Salt to the sea
Today I thought that I would get salt to the sea out to read . I have sputnik's guide to life on earth book out so I was reading it . I wanted to stop reading this book and get salt to the sea because this week we had to do our barometer and everyone in our group wanted salt to the sea to be first but I was not quite sure because I have never read that book and I read the smell of other people houses, which is sort of the same as salt to the sea because it has 4 different views, and I did not like it . The reason I did not like the smell of other peoples houses is because it had 4 different people in one book and it confused me because they all lived in the same place and all had a similar life. So I am really excited to read this book and hopefully I will like it . By Isabelle Cook

I finished it!
Today I finished Wolf Hollow. In my previous blog I said about how I wasn't enjoying it, well it was got better. I won't spoil it, but towards the end I started to feel a little tear trickle down my face so..... DON'T READ THE END AT SCHOOL OR IN PUBLIC!! I would be really grateful if you read my review, Rosie. osandxs

The Smell Of Other People's Houses!
This book is intriguing and exciting! I like the fact that it is wrote in different perspectives, I think that it gives it a sense of tension, you never know what is round the corner! It isn't the best book I've read though it is okay! :) Can't wait to finish! Georgia Osandxs (inside joke)

Loving the blog :)
So, I'm picking up the vibe that Rosie is not yet enjoying Wolf Hollow - here's hoping it improves with every page Rosie! :) Sounds like Regan is enjoying Sputnik's book - nice update blog. Keep us informed on how it goes. I also LOVE fact any pasta, pizza, rice. I think I should actually live in Italy ;) Chess can be annoying at times, but then again, I'm just a novice when it comes to chess! I agree, if you LOVE READING...then just read! :) Sounds like Rosie absolutely loved Salt to the Sea. It needs to be on your next reading list. Mrs C :)

Wolf Hollow
I am currently reading Wolf Hollow, a book I was looking forward to reading. I have had it for about 4 days and I'm not really getting into it. I feel like the exciting bit hasn't happened yet. (Or maybe it has, but isn't exciting enough!!) Just wanted to update, plus I hadn't done a blog yet. :D Rosie. osandxs (Inside joke with Georgia and I!)

Sputnik's Guide to Life On Earth
This book is quite good. It is about a boy, Prez, who lives with his Grandfather. His Grandfather goes crazy and Prez becomes a temporary kid. He moves to a farm with a family called the Blythes. An alien called Sputnik shows up at the house. He looks like a human boy to Prez but like a different type of dog to everyone else. Earth is about to be shrunk because it is useless so Sputnik and Prez have to put 10 things in a book that make Earth useful. Sputnik and Prez go on lots of adventures and get into lots of trouble. READ IT NOW!!!!

Wonder - is really a Wonder!
I loved this book from the first page on. The way it describes how August looks at life, the effects it has on his family and how they cope with his disabilities. The challenges that Auggie has to endure when he goes to "big school" and how his sister feels about her younger brother. It's a story of friendship and overcoming adversity. This book is soooooooooo cool you should read it LIKE right noW

The Fault in Our Stars book review
This book was quite an emotional book with a capturing story line and engaging characters. I thought the way it was written and the major plot twists at the end were very enthralling.
