The Wall
The Wall is an amazing book about the courage and adventure of a young boy that wants to escape from the prison of a home that he is in. He hates his step-father and his mother is on his step-fathers side all the time. But, one day he finds an underground passage that leads to the other side of the 'wall'. When he gets over there though, things are very different to what it is like in his home town....The Wall is a brilliant book which twists adventure and courage that lead to a turn of difficult life decisions.

'Roof Toppers'
Described as 'a beautiful story about pursuing your dreams and never ignoring a possible', we believe that 'Roof Toppers' by Katherine Rundell is a worthy contender for the Carnegie award because of many things. For a start, the characters are vivid and therefore relatable, enabling the reader to empathise with them and enjoy the story. The storyline is exciting, and the different locations that it takes take the reader on a whirlwind tour of the world. Due to this, the reader can imagine that are actually in the story and enjoy the twists and turns that the storyline takes. By Daisy Benson.

Liar & Spy
This is a shorter book targeted at younger readers. Georges moves into a new block of flats, and meets his one friend, Safer. Safer describes the evil Mr X. who was murdering people, and needed to be stopped. But as Safer asks for more and more of Georges, he starts to wonder: what is a game, and what is a lie? How far would you go for your only friend? I like this book because the storyline is very emotional, but I think Ghost Hawk is better!

5th Wave cast
Some people on the internet have a weird image of who should be the characters in the 5th Wave. All the people in one of the YouTube videos look quite weird and some do not even fit the description at all!!! In this case, you definitely SHOULD judge a book by its cover!!!

The 5th Wave
I'm not that far into the book, but from all I have read so far I'm really enjoying it. I like how it flashes back and there is the past, present and future Cassie who talk to her and help her figure out what to do next. I can't wait to read more and find out if there are any more humans left!

The 5th Wave (so far)
'The 5th Wave' by Rick Yancey is a fast-paced, action packed novel which defies all understanding of the world as we know it today. Aliens have attacked, but do they really want to wipe out the whole of the human race? Or do they just want to deprive a few million people of their lives? The answers to these ultimate questions are unknown as of yet, but Cassie (the main character) is determined to survive and find the answers. Rick Yancey implies rather than tells in his writing, making the reader figure out the meaning he is trying to convey through his carefully chosen words. We have not finished this book yet but so far, we are enjoying it. It is rather frightening, but we must remember that this is just science fiction, despite the fact that if can seem extremely realistic at times! So far, it's a great read. By Daisy Benson.

Private Peaceful- Movie
I read the book first of all and now hav seen the film. I think the book is much more emotional and powerful, mainly because I found the film slightly confusing! It was a good adaptation of the book, following the storyline quite closly. It is a good film but I much prefered the book.

The One Dollar Horse - Lauren St John - Book Review
'The One Dollar Horse' by Lauren St John combines the wonders of the equestrian world with the twists and turns of young love. Set in dark, depressing Hackney, horse riding is the only thing that brightens up the dull, dreary life of 15 year old Casey Blue. When she finds a dollar abandoned on the pavement, she feels that this could be a sign from her late, American mother. Things get even stranger when she finds a neglected, angered horse, who, after Casey purchases him with the dollar, excels in all that he does. Full of tragedy, passion and action, 'The One Dollar Horse' is an excellent read for anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming something extraordinary.

Bells Whiskey Advert
Our choice of the 'bells whiskey' was due to it inspiring up to read. Although it has alcohol content, it shows how reading is such a privilege. Surprisingly, 1 in 6 adults in the UK cannot write, proving how reading is such a skill. This moving story tells the tale of an old man with the determination to learn...
