Martha's Poem
Wanting to change the w rld As I throw myself into bed, Wanting to change the world, I try to catch, trap, ensnare, all the pain that needs healing, After a tough day of school. I rush downstairs, Wanting to change the world, Bringing hope joy and peace, To all my family. I get in the car for church, Wanting to change the world, No matter what happens you can find me, Reading, kneeling, praying wherever I am. I finish playing minecraft, Wanting to change the world, Destroying the environment, Forgetting about the world.

Abigail's Poem
I know that life is going to rain, And we can’t catch, gather all the pain But can I change this if I try, Perhaps I will one day When I can’t hold, on much longer, I have to always be strong If I believe I can fly again, My cocoon of sadness will go “Throw me some rope, I’m coming loose”, You will hear me say one day And you will throw it to me, Then dreams will lead me home My future is my fantasy dreamland, Where best friends are true, like now But now I know what I am, But know not what I may be 2100-My future, and yours My google glasses are old and twisted, Lying by my side My hands are sinewed and wrinkled, And battered and tired now I know what I was and I, Know what I am now My boots are soaked and soggy, But I know what I have found I know I have made a difference, And it’s a good one too I have made joyful living, Possible for me and you Perhaps I could try, To stop polluted rain But I have told myself, Again, and again and again Happiness is a virtue

Tarran's Poem
I stand at the edge of imagination, Hope and joy galore, Thoughts as a child, a Future of fantasy and fun, But the Future will mean more. Future thoughts include joy, Good and peace as a man, Resorts on the strangest places, And acres of peaceful land. When night comes, All people will have their rest, Enjoyed all their day, With hopes tomorrow will be best.

Botond's Poem
Life is fighting against me, No one is hurting, damaging, bruising me more than life, But these past few years I’ve learnt that, Instead of fighting life back, Love it, No matter how hard it hits, Get up and hug it. But love one thing more than life, Love your family, And no matter how much you argue, Love them. And remember to, Take pride in every second, And love every moment, Because death is waiting around the corner, With his friends, Disappointment and sadness.

Ellie's Promise Review
THE PROMISE BOOK REVIEW BY ELLIE I LIKED THE ‘THE PROMISE’ BECAUSE IT TAUGHT ME THAT THE WORLD MEANS SO MUCH. MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE BOOK WAS WHEN THE CITY STARTED TO COME TO LIFE AND PLANTS BEGAN TO GROW. THIS BOOK IS ABOUT A LITTLE THIEF WHO STOLE A BAG OF ACORNS TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE . I WOULD RATE THIS BOOK FOR 5YEARS+ ALSO I WOULD GIVE IT A 10 OUT OF 10.

Botond & Josh review The Promise
I enjoyed The Promise because it had a really good moral. I give it TEN OUT OF TEN. The pictures were really nice and will help younger readers to understand about plants and the earth.

Maddison's Review The Promise
The promise book review, by Maddison Scott. I enjoyed reading this book, because it was really sweet, and it tells a message. This book is about a little thief, who tries to steal a bag from an old lady. She made a promise to plant the seeds in the bag, and she changes the hard ugly, cold city into a blooming blossom of nature. The message of this book is to make a difference, to a dull situation. I would recommend this book to 5 years +, because the vocab is too difficult for younger readers.

Martha's Review The Promise
I really enjoyed the book ‘The Promise’ because I find change really exciting and the book had change. I liked it when it kept repeating mean and hard and ugly because it makes me think that everything is all the same and all dull. I also like the way that gradually the book fills with colour. My favourite page was the page full of birds on a tree because it was beautifully illustrated and it has birds full of colour and no two birds are the same. I would recommend this book for people all ages because children would love the illustrations and older people would find it a brilliant story.

Waterstones Wonder!
Last week, we visited our local Waterstones bookshop. We had created a display inspired by our favourite book THE PROMISE by Nicola Davies. It's awesome! We wrote our own poems and created art work based on the book. We also sent letters to Nicola Davies to tell her how amazing we think her book is. We were proud of our work and enjoyed being shopkeepers and buying books in the shop. The best bit was sharing birthday cake as it was Jez's birthday that day! Happy birthday Jez and happy reading!
