Another meeting...
We had another meeting today and we focused on writing reviews, which have so far been very mixed. I have read 4 books and have to read The Smell of Other People's Houses this week. Out of the four, I have only liked one of them and I sincerely hope that there are some other books on the shortlist that I like. So far, I have noticed some shared current themes, especially immigration and sexual assault. This emphasises the changes in our society as, in the last few years, the content of the award has changed a lot.

WE'RE BACK
It's our second meeting and we are all looking forward to our upcoming Carnegie event! We have each got another book to read this week and the reviews so far have been quite mixed. We are very impressed with the wide range of issues covered in the shortlist and to combat this, we may need a wider array of biscuits!!!!

RIP Louise Rennison 1951-2016
We are all deeply upset about the author Louise Rennison's death. Aged 65, she died on the 29th February. Her books, including Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Withering Tights, were so inspiring, she was announced the Queen of Teens and won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. She will be deeply missed by authors and readers alike.

BUFFALO SOLDIER WON!!!!!
In our library again and after the initial shock at the winner, some of our most lenient readers are (slightly) warming to the idea. At first, we wanted More Than This to win, however at the last minute, some felt more attached to Buffalo Soldier. Nearly all of us are happy with the result and now can't wait till next year.

Philosophical reading...
This week I had to read More Than This and it got me thinking about what happens after this life. Is there an afterlife? Are we just stuck in the middle of nowhere? Is there more than this in this life? I bet I sound like mr dog has bitten me.
