We've now read two books for our club, Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell and The Last Wild by Piers Torday.
In our discussions we really liked the dystopian world of The Last Wild and the relationship that Kester had with the animals in the book. It felt that Rooftoppers was trying to be more funny, but we loved the characters in that book.
Both are quest stories and we were interested that The last Wild was more episodic than Rooftoppers which had a more linear structure.
As a group we were split as to which was our favourite book, both are great but in very different ways. Our next book, over the Easter holidays, is Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book - the 2010 Carnegie winner. Mr Drawmer says that it is one of his favourite authors!
