Stevenage,

Great video content
We've found the author and illustrator videos excellent this year and they've been so helpful in explaining the background to books, illustration techniques and encouraging students to read books they may not have considered reading.

Visual Literacy with Year 7
We have been enjoying looking at the Greenaway shortlisted books and comparing books about bears. Sam and Dave Dig a Hole has also been popular. There are lots of books about lies on the Carnegie shortlist this year and we'll be discussing this at Book Club this week.

Smelly Louie By Catherine Rayner
This book is very funny as it goes round in a circle- we end up at the end where we were at the beginning which looks quite humorous. It is also a weird book which is also very funny that at the end he ends up in the bathtub AGAIN. The color is very good and we like how they haven't drawn the dog they have used pastels and sharp strokes to make it look like a dog. We have read Rules of Summer and we will upload a blog next week describing what we like about Rules of Summer (STRANGE BOOK)

The Promise
In our last session we read The Promise. we liked how as you go read through the book there was more colour and we like how they made a promise to bring life and hope. It also seems to signify spring and renewal of everything. The artwork is MAGNIFICENT and majestic and beautiful. The different colouring really matches the topics which are being spoke about. All artwork aside, it is overall a lovely book--suitable for all ages. Also, the different water colors and oil pastels really add to the prettiness. The simpleness of some of the figures makes the drawings even more beautiful.
