Human Rights - Discuss
Today our shadowees began with a task. They had to choose one human right and explain how it is portrayed in the book they are reading. They then thought of a debate question relating to this right. Ms. Anderson discussed 'the right to an identity' in Railhead and asked the question 'what makes us human?' To which our conversation diverted towards many different, yet interesting tangents. We also discussed the role and meaning of family in the book 'The smell of other people's houses'. Next time we will carry on with this same activity, to delve deeper into the shortlisted books and how they portray human rights. Get reading shadowees!! Ms. Fitz.

The much awaited shortlist has finally been announced and we cannot wait to get our hands on those books. Fortunately for us, we already have Ruta Sepetys' Salt to the Sea in our library, so some of us have a head start before the real reading begins. More posts to follow once all our shadowees begin reading...
