Hi everyone, please aim to finish the book that you're on by NEXT WEEK so that you can take out a new book to read over the half term. It'll be June when we come back so the deadline to get them read is looming! - Miss Rowley

Hi everyone! Myself and Mrs Hughes have been discussing the competition and we're going to EXTEND the competition deadline so that you have more time to read the books and get those reviews in! I will be coming around to assemblies next week to clarify. In the meantime, keep checking this site regularly and more importantly - make sure you're reading regularly too! - Miss Rowley

Half term reading
Happy half term everybody!! I finished reading 'One' by Sarah Crossan at about midnight last night because I could not put it down! So I've submitted my review and am going to use this week to try and get through TWO more books - There Will Be Lies by Nick Lake and The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick. I hope you all have a lovely week and are kept entertained by some fantastic books! =D happy reading! - Miss Rowley

A little bit of a negative blog post I'm afraid but please please PLEASE can you ensure you look after the books carefully! They have been paid for by the school and if they are damaged it spoils the enjoyment for everyone else who wants to read them. Please could you also try to NOT LOSE THE BOOKS! Again, this spoils it for people waiting for that book to come back! Myself and Mrs Hughes are LOVING running this competition but we cannot keep this up if the books are not returned or are returned in an unsuitable condition! So please ensure you are looking after them, not folding the pages back and are keeping them in a separate plastic bag when in your backpack to protect from food and wet PE kits! Thank you so much, your co-operation is greatly appreciated =) thanks! - Miss Rowley

First year 8 review!
A HUGE thanks to Samirah in year 8 for submitting our first review from her yeargroup AND for being the first person to review Fire Colour One, so lots of firsts for Samirah thank you! We now have one review from year 8, three reviews from year 9 and a whopping SIX reviews from year 7. Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to read the books and then submit reviews. Keep them coming everyone - less than a month to go! - Miss Rowley

Week two of our competition
Well! Our competition is going SO well that Mrs Hughes has had to order another set of books because we totally ran out of all copies last week! This is BRILLIANT because it shows how popular the competition is but more importantly it means we've got lots of people reading and that's fantastic. I'm so excited with how well the competition seems to be going. Remember to keep checking the library to see when books have been returned and if you have any questions, Mrs Hughes is in the library and I'm in D4. Can't wait to read more reviews (we have THREE already!) and to hear what you all think about these brilliant books =D. - Miss Rowley

WE HAVE OUR FIRST REVIEW!! =D Huge thanks to Thyrone in year 9 for his truly excellent review of Patrick Ness's The Rest of us Just Live Here. As he is the first to write a review he is our 'star review' this week. Can anyone knock him off the top spot? Keep checking back, reading your books and submitting those reviews! - Miss Rowley

Competition coming along nicely!
Mrs Hughes has set up WONDERFUL displays in the library and in the blue area so do please check those out for more info on the books available and, of course, the competition! Mrs Hughes also informed me that the books have been FLYING off the shelves! In the library she currently two copies of There Will Be Lies, one copy of Fire Colour One and one copy of Lies We Tell Ourselves. So out of the 16 Carnegie books we ordered - we only have 4 left which is GREAT news! Don't worry if the book you're dying to read has been taken out already - we have more copies on the way so do please keep checking the library regularly. - Miss Rowley

Carnegie Competition Launched!
Today our Carnegie reading competition was launched and Mrs Hughes and I are VERY excited! We want people to read as many of the short-listed books as they can and write a review (minimum one paragraph) which will be uploaded to this national Carnegie website!! There will be prizes given for: THE BEST REVIEW, THE MOST BOOKS READ and ANY PUPIL WHO CAN READ MORE BOOKS THAN MISS ROWLEY. We really hope as many people as possible take part in this competition! The prizes really will be worth fighting for AND there will be house points awarded for the winner too - can Lux keep up their lead by winning this competition? Or do Aqua and Ventus think they can read faster and write better reviews?! All will be revealed on the 20th June! - Miss Rowley =)
