Book Clubbers Meet the Challenge!
Our Book Clubbers are a mixed group of young people ages 11-16. They are each individual personalities with a variety of interests and hobbies. The one thing they all have in common is that they love to share their opinions about anything and everything from school politics, film, TV, magazines, latest games and BEST of all they love to talk about and read BOOKS. Many find the Carnegie shortlist challenging but without exception they all endeavour to read and review as many titles as possible. They dearly love the Greenaway picture books especially when they can share them with younger people from the local primary school. I believe that none of us are too old to appreciate picture books - afterall that is often the place where we started to enjoy reading.

Hi from Holbrook HS Book Club 2010
We are a small rural high school with a very enthusiastic Book Club - year 7-11. We are doing our best to get as many reviews done as possible. What do other people think of the shortlist so far? Some of the themes seem very deep and sad so far e.g. Rowan the Strange, Vanishing of Katharina Linden, The Ask and the Answer...

What do people think of the latest shortlisted books - some of our year 8 students are not so keen on Graveyard but love Nation. The Greenaway books are very popular with our artistic students. We are going to read them with our local primary school pupils - it is great to get feedback from everyone!
