Howard Park / Whitcliffe Mount Reading Partners
West Yorkshire,

Finding our more
For our second meeting, we split into groups to look at two of the titles in more detail. We thought about the illustrations and read as much of the stories as we could - time whizzed by! Miss Cawley and Ms Raby have missed seeing the Howard Park book experts this week, but we'll be getting together after Easter.

Time for our next meeting!
Last session, we were given a very warm welcome at Howard Park, and enjoyed meeting the team and unwrapping the shortlisted titles. Tomorrow, it's time to read more of the fabulous books, and maybe record our ideas so far on the website.

Looking foward to some great reading!
This is going to be a really exciting year! For the first time ever, we'll be sharing our shadowing with Howard Park Community School, enjoying the Greenaway shortlisted titles. Can any of the other titles match up to the totally fabulous This Is Not My Hat??

WHITE CROW
I really liked Marcus' book last year and this year was no different, I loved the way he set the mood and explained every little detail, it really helped set the scene and helped you imagine what it was like. Also I liked it on how the personalities of the 2n girls ferelith and Rebecca are so different but they get on so well. i don't wan to spoil it but the ending is amazing and again really upsetting but at least Rebecca and her dad are a lot closer at the end. I really want you all to read this book! From Emily H

Prisoner of the Inquisition Review by Zahra Ali
Zarita is the only daughter of the town's magistrate. She lives a life of her choice. saulo however, faces poverty. After seeing his father brutally killed for no such reason, he swears vengence on the magistrate and his whole family. There are many characters, such as Zarita, Saulo, thier parents, aunt Beatriz, Father Besian, Ramon, etc. My favourite is Zarita I feel sorry for her, she is gentle. I also like Beatriz. I like the way Zarita and Saulo have different chapters, this hows thier feelings. I understood everything, it was written well! It was probably the best or one of the best books I have ever read! It was perfect and suitable for my age group. I would love to read other books by Therea Breslin. she is great, fantastic, superb- basically any good word. I would definatly recommend this! Unable to put it down. a book that goes to your heart not brain. AMAZING!!!!!! ******* 7 star rating! Too good for 5!

Review of 'Prisoner of the Inquisition'
The characters Saulo and Zarita meet through a troublesome series of events. Can they both survive the inquisition? This book was fantastic, it is the 2nd of the shortlist that I have read and it keeps you guessing through the entire book to end brilliantly. I beleieved everything that was going on in this book, I felt like I was there, and was so involved with the story I was close to tears at parts. This book was a joy to read and would gladly recommend it. By Miss Cawley
