Bassingbourn Village College
Bassingbourn,

The Bunker Diary
Why is it that as soon as you say you might not want to read this book that everyone wants to read it. Thee has been so much discussion about this one, far more than it deserves I think. The students that have read it have really enjoyed it but I wonder if that is just because it is controversial and very adult.

Visit by Carnegie Judge
We had a visit from Carnegie Judge Alison Tarrant on Friday which was very interesting. I am not sure I would have coped with reading 76 books in 3 months and she's already starting reading books for this year's November long list. All this alongside choosing this year's winner! Students were keen to know why 'The Bunker Diaries' was chosen and why all the judges are women this year. They also asked if it was right for adults to select the best children's book rather than children. The criteria are all important. We have to keep that in mind as we read.

No real favourite yet
Reading is progressing at a pace now. Most members of the group have read half of the books but no real favourite is emerging. Those who have read Ghost Hawk seem to prefer it though.
