Art teachers tell us what's hot and what's not!
2 of our art and design teachers spent lunchtime with us discussing illustration and why it is important. We talked about how it is used to catch the eye or to help with the text. Miss Miller liked Molly and the night monster the best. Miss Nicol has young children and would not read some of this year's entries to them! Neither of them liked Way back home and none of us liked Snow Goose. We will probably choose one of the others but our vote will be a secret ballot!

Greenaway: just for kids?
NO! Some of the books on the shortlist are more suitable to older children than toddlers who would look at picture books. David Almond's book, the savage is very dark and the illustrations by Dave McKean are quite scary!
