Sir Bernard Lovell School
Bristol,

Holiday time!
Dear SBL readers,

Hope you're having a fun and relaxing time for your holidays. It's pretty quiet at school without the pupils and staff here...

How are you getting on with your book? Don't forget to add your reviews to the Carnegie site!

I'm feeling really left out - you're all so keen, there were no books left for me to read! Quick, hurry up and finish one for me to borrow!

See you all next week!

Miss J

There's more!
Teacher news! Miss Saunders (Languages) has also joined in the Carnegie shadowing. Will the teachers soon outnumber the students?

Who's reading what now?

* Black Rabbit Summer - Miss Martin
* Bog Child - Jo, Amy
* Cosmic - Mr Shiells, CJ
* Creature of the Night - Mr Lyle, Miss Jenkins
* The Knife of Never Letting Go - Anna, Miss Saunders

Uh oh! We've had our first complaint!
Mr Shiells (PE) is not happy! Cosmic kept him awake reading for ages last night... Even though he didn't get as much sleep as intended, he still managed to get to school early. But he started reading Cosmic again at 7.30 this morning in the PE office, got totally sucked in and only just made it to the staff briefing meeting in time!

He's reported back that it's a really funny book...

p.s. Mr Lyle (Music) and couple more Year 8s have joined us since end of school yesterday!

Books are disappearing fast...
Our first meeting this lunchtime and the Year 8s that are taking part had great fun tinkering around with the group page and updating our status.

We took the first photos for our SBL Carnegie page... lots of fun!

Who's reading what?

Miss Martin is reading Black Rabbit Summer. AmyLou and Joanne are reading Bog Child. Anna and Miss Saunders is reading The Knife of Never Letting Go. In the PE department Mr Bowers is reading Airman and Mr Shiells and CJ has chosen Cosmic.

Everyone else is trying desperately hard to remember to bring back their signed permission forms!

The books have arrived!
Much excitement as the books are seen for the first time this morning break...

Miss Jenkins and Miss Martin have already baggsied and taken home the two copies of Black Rabbit Summer. They're looking forwards to talking about the books when they're done.

A steadily growing group of Year 8s have taken home permission forms in the rush to be first to start reading the books.

Several other members of staff at the school - teachers and support have said they'd like to read some of the books...

First meeting will be during second lunch this Thursday - photo time!

Bye for now.... Miss J
