Alanna's Review: Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness (Winner 2012)
Monsters of Men is the third book in the Chaos Walking Trilogy and Mayor Prentiss is fighting against everyone. This book is amazing and I like the characters. I also like that it ties everything up from the previous books. 4/4 stars.

Reviewing 'One' by Sarah Crossan (2016 Winner)
Lots of pupils have chosen to read 'One' by Sarah Crossan when chosing a previous winner of the Carnegie Medal. Read their thoughts below: Grace's Review: Tippi and Grace are conjoined twins. They go to a new school and everyone stares at them, Everyone that is, except Jon and yasmeen. They become friends and Tippi and Grace start to fit in at their new school. Suddenly, they become critically ill. Who can save them? My favourite part was the relationship between the twins though I wish a certain character hadn't died at the end! It is really emotional and will make you realise how easy you have it. Also the family is quite relatable. Harriet's Review: One is about conjoined twins Grace and Tippi. Written in poems, it follows them through their life. It was really touching and beautifully written. I think this is an amazing book. Evie's Review: 'One' is about conjoined twins Tippi and Grace. They start going to school at the beginning of the book and face problems throughout their lives. However something drastic happens to change things forever. I loved this book becuase it is interesting and very exciting. It is aso sad as you learn and look into the lives of the twins.

Wolf Hollow- Abi's Review
5 Stars! Betty was a bully and Toby was 'Jordan' but what else was going on? Ruth's life is changed forever, and then Betty disappears and Annabelle's life is happier... until everyone blames Toby. I love this book because it gives the element of mystery and sadness. This is my favourite book so far and I definitely reccomend it if you like mystery books.

Salt to the Sea- Evie's Review
About the book: This book tells the story of four people living in winter 1945 and they are all trying to get to a ship that can save them- the Gustloff. Some are Polish, German and Latvian. They all meet and get to the Gustloff together. Review: This book had interesting viewpoints and characters. I thought that it was written well and I enjoyed it (especially when there was drama). I give this book 5 stars.

What makes a good book
I find what makes a good book includes a range of factors. A balance of description and plot is what drives a book, if an imbalance is made is can either make the book too boring or too fast paced for the reader to relate to the characters or environment. There is said to be four basic stories in the world which are always retold and get more tired each time they are retold. So when someone creates a world or new innovative characters then the audience becomes interested. For example, when 'War of the worlds' arrived in the 1900's, everyone was amazed with it's shocking and disturbing atmosphere with relatable characters getting attacked by a mysterious race. These days it is hard to be original and yet cater to the mass audience, but when something new comes along now it becomes a cult phenomenon. A truly good book can make an audience stay interested and want to know what happens, with an original yet gripping story which makes us reflect what we would do in that situation and even our own mortality. Bufflo Solider
I think that Bufflo Solider is a good bookbecause it is well detailed and has a great story line that could easily be based on a true sroy because it is based on slavery and fighting the Native Americans for their land. I also like that the begin is simlar to the last chapter like the begin is a prediction to the last chapter. I would recommed this book to any one who is interested in history.

The Fastest Boy In The World
This book was a joy to read, it has a structure and style of writing in which can be easily read by all ages. The story itself tells a tale of a young ethiopian boy in which when his birthday arrives he is taken to the nearest city by his grandfather to explore. While there his grandfather falls ill and so the young boy must run twenty miles to get home and get help. The story felt very wholesome and touching in which the young boy was written as a very complete character with flaws and aspirations in which some books do not do these days. The ending was very rewarding as well but I won't spoil it, the only thing I'll say is that the story has very rewarding and truthful morals and I would recomend to people who want a simple but interesting read :) from Milly ^_^

Cuckoo Song
I am loving "Cuckoo Song", it is one of the best books I have read for a while, it's quite mysterious and has a lot of cliffhangers and suspense. I can't wait to find out how it ends, I am trying to stop myself from reading the last page! Definetly a must-read for any keen book enthusiast.

Finished Tinder =)
Over the holiday I read 'Tinder' written by Sally Gardner and illustrated by David Roberts. I really liked the book as I loved the story line and it kept me hooked in through out the time I was reading it. I think they may have been a bit more in the description of certain areas of the story would probably make it better, but in general I loved this book =). The story line was also very intense and hooking, its of a man who came across a lady who said he could stay but only if he compltes the tasks she gives him, but this lady isnt as she seems she traps him there forcing to complete her tasks. But along the line he gathers a tinder box which could summon 3 wolves which will do his bidding. I absolutley loved it! <3
