The Meeting of Great Minds
Our next meeting is in a couple of hours & the group has been tackling "Buffalo Soldier" ... it will be interesting to see what the group thinks of this story, as so far we have all been pretty divided in our opinions!

It's been a while but the group is back! Everyone has received their first book & are currently working their way through at a phenomenal rate ... Usain Bolt & Mo Farah would be hard pressed to catch up!

Online Madness
Today we introduced the group to the delights of the shadowing site ... madness ensued with countless polls being created, a new background change every 2 seconds & a healthy debate as to which book should make it to the top spot!

Chocolate Cake
Meeting 2 started with the 1st (of hopefully many!) cake concoctions - this year it was decided that each meeting would be lead by 1 member & it is also their responsible to bring in something good to eat - YUM!

Half Term Madness
We have all been reading like fiends over the half term - some of us have nearly finished reading the whole shortlist, although no one wants to start "The Bride's Farewell"

Last Carnegie Meeting
The last Carnegie session was utter madness - only managed 30 minutes before we descended into a football frenzy! Rowan the Strange was our group's vote - but there was quite a lot of contention, as it only won by 1 vote and was hotly pursued by The Vanishing of Katharina Linden, Ask & the Answer and Revolver. The group was really divided as to which book they wanted to win. Our Librarian thinks The Vanishing of Katharina Linden is a strong contender for 1st place.

First Meeting!
Everybody got their chance to speak out on the first meeting with their ideas and criticism on what they had read so far. Lots of people were enjoying their books, others not so much. But mostly excellent start to the project!

Excellent Reviews... Mostly
We are starting to really get into the spirit of the Carnegie, with some people already far down the shortlist. Most reviews have been good, however a primary contention point has been 'The Ask and the Answer', with lots of people being left confused as they had not read the first book. Aside from this point, most people agree on the other aspects of the other books, with only a few minor issues being debated.

The Votes are In...
After much competition and debate, BSB has selected (barely) 'ROWAN THE STRANGE' to be its choice to win. Winning by only one vote, this left many people annoyed, but eventually they accepted the group decision.

Well it's not what we thought, but The Graveyard Book has won the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2010.
