The British School of Beijing
Linyin Road,

So...we are bored. We had a short story competiton and I forgot to submit my story so...I failed. And I thought my story could have a great chance being at least in the finalists section. You can't go on our school globalclassroom (unless your schoool is nordanglia) so you probably can't read it. Bummer. BTW, Helen's short story was about transylvanian hamsters. (She's insane)

liar and spy review
liar and spy is a book about a boy called Georges who has just moved to a apartment and there he sees a note about the "spy club", which is directed by Safer, his neighbor, and Safer's sister, Candy. Safer talks about an assassin who lives on top of Georges' apartment, Mr. X. together, they spend weeks spying on Mr. X, until he comes back and Georges has a big surprise... I read this book and recommend it to whoever likes comedies and friendship stories. Giovana Nicoli

Rooftoppers Review
Rooftoppers is a story about a girl called Sophie who was found in a cello case floating in the sea. Her guardian Charles took her in and gave her a home. Sophie is determined to prove people that her mother is still alive, but Sophie is not like other girls her age. She and Charles go on a trip to find her true guardian and escape from her false life. This book is a very good read and I recommed it to ages 9+. Alyssa Elliott

Portable Magic- The BSB Festivals of Books and Big Ideas
From the 10th to the 21st of March, the British School of Beijing had their annual book week, but with a new name- ‘The BSB Festival of Books and Big Ideas’! This year we had the honour of meeting and doing workshops with many inspiring writers- Paul Ham, an award-winning author of history books who worked with the students taking history; Gabrielle Wang, a Melbourne born author and illustrator of Chinese heritage. She did an art workshop with some key stage 3 students; Liz Lochhead, the Scots' 'Makar' (National Poet of Scotland) who held a poetry workshop with out students. Aside from the workshops, we had 'Drop Everything and Read' sessions throughout the weeks for our Secondary School where everyone had to stop doing their work and read a book.

The Bookworm
Our group of year 9's recently went on a trip to The Bookworm to see the author of Rabbit Rap. It was really fun and the author was really funny and friendly. He told us about where he gets his information from and how he deals with stress and writer's block. He also showed us how to dance the Tango. We each got a free drink and had a great time!
