Magdalen College School - Junior School

So far our favourite book is 'Apple and Rain' most of us enjoyed the subtle humanity of the novel. To some eyes it might seem a little bit stereotypical but I personally think it has a certain individuality in the way words are put together and the mixture of events, how they always let Appolina down.

We are a group of 9 boys plus our current librarian Mrs McDonough. We meet every Tuesday lunchtime after our lunch break. We have been remaining quite general until all the boys have finished all the books. Currently only 1 has actually read all of the books that we are shadowing, but we're getting close.

What do we look for?
We have been discussing what entices us to pick up and read a book. Our most common factor was the book cover, but another significant feature that we've discussed is reading sequels from a series we enjoy, i.e. the Skulduggery Pleasant series.

Magdalen's Master Manuscripts
We meet on Wednesdays at lunchtime. There are between 3 and 6 of us at any session plus our Librarian, Mrs Gordon. We've all read Airman, our current favourite, and have been discussing its good bits. We liked the bit where Connor fights Otto and also Linus's final speech. In Cosmic,we liked the water fight on the moon and the Florida action-figure toy. In Savage, Mrs Gordon thought that the illustrations really enhanced the story. We're looking forward to finding out which book wins the medal. (blog post outdated by 6 years)
