Heathcote School

And the winner is....
Today we found out the title of the winning book. We were quite surprised and Little Boat is still our favourite. We used Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills to reflect on how doing the shadowing had helped our learning and we wrote an article for the school newsletter.

We cast our votes!
The atmosphere was tense as we voted in secret for our favourite picture book. Varmints, How To Heal A Broken Wing, and The Savage were joint second, but our winner is...... The Little Boat. We spent the rest of the afternoon turning our reviews into attractive designs for a display using Publisher.

Watch, Listen and Read
We found out that Varmints is very popular in Brazil. They are making Varmints into a movie. We found out that Chris Wormell found it hard to draw the crocodile. Dave Mckean talked about the colours he used in The Savage. It was very useful to see the illustrators talk about the books.

The books have arrived!
We had our first look at the books today. First we looked at the book we had chosen from the poster last week, then we swopped books and talked about our first impressions. The books are really interesting!
