Why I Love To Read - Samiha Akter
I love reading because it helps me with my knowledge. Reading is also my habit, it makes me learn new and difficult words for my prior knowledge. My favourite authors are: Stephenie Myers, Cathy Cassidy, Patrick Ness and JK Rowling. My favourite genre is Horror, Mystery and Romance. Reading inspires me and makes me explore in my imagination whats going on as i read.

My reading pleasure, by Suprateeka Talukder
The joys of reading are endless, my happiness ultimately arises from reading. I think a reading habit benefits our lives in many ways. The regulation of our reading develops our knowledge to a large extent. Reading is the basis of a vast vocabulary booster. I think almost every human being has gained most of its knowledge through reading, and there is no better opportunity for learning than through reading, it expands our mind tremendously. Reading puts your mental imagination into action and explores imaginary people and places, it allows people to escape their norm. Not every book book is everyones cup of tea, but there is a book out there that someone will enjoy. I also think that reading is an alternative to entertainment, because as Lady Mary Montagu said , " No entertainment is so cheap as reading, not any pleasure as lasting".

Why I love to read books!!! By Gabriela Barzyk
Books allow me to escape from reality, fling away the routine, monotony, and the gray reality of my everyday life. They also help me to feel the world , in which the story takes me, in reall depth . Each book develops the imagination, deepens the understanding and knowladge, enrichs the vocabulary and helps to practice my spelling. With each read book my sensitivity to the beauty of literature and culture increases. I reach for the book whenever I have some free time, since reading, in my opinion, is the most wonderful entertainment and the best form of relaxation in the whole galaxy! I also read and I like to read mainly because reading develops my personality. J.R.R. Tolkien is my favorite author. His life considerations and relevant metaphors are simply outstanding. Books wrote by him, let me look at the world from different perspective, with more feelings. Those books definitely enrich my soul. When I take a book in hand, I'm setting off to another, better world. My life without books would be like a body without spirit, like the desert, where any plant is not able to grow, and that's why I love them!

Why I love to read!
I love to read because I can put myself into the shoes of the characters and share their feelings. I can also learn from the authors writing styles and use them to adapt my own. I am looking forward to reading all of the shortlisted books this year, particularly after reading some of the reviews that have been posted on this site. - Oliver SK

Why we all love to read
As a teacher I am very excited to be organising the Carnegie Medal this year for Haggerston School. I love to read books and don't go anywhere without a book. I love that you can pick up a book and travel to different lands, imagine a different world and life and can picture a variety of different possibilities. I can't wait to read all of this year's nominees esspecially 'Prisoner of the Inquisition' by Theresa Breslin. This year's group at Haggerston all seem to be avid readers and I have asked them to share on this website why they love to read, why they've joined Carnegie and for some, why they wanted to be a part of it for the second or third year in a row. We are all interested in reading and we hope this shows through our blogs and reviews.
