Group status: We're reading!

Here are a few of our reading group!

This year a group of enthusiastic students from Teignmouth Community School are meeting each week in the Library to discuss the shortlisted books for the Carnegie Medal 2018. Our group includes over twenty students from Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, as well as a number of teachers and library staff. The author video clips are being shown each Thursday at lunch time in the library, and we aim to post regular reviews on the site . Eventually, students will decide on their favourite book and submit their preference for this year's winner before the awards are officially announced. We also, for the eighth year running are shadowing the Kate Greenaway Medal - some of our Year 8 students will be sharing the picture books with primary children. This is a really enjoyable opportunity for all involved.

The Carnegie Medal was criticised last year for not including any writers of colour in it's longlist and shortlist. Can you recommend any BAME authors that you have enjoyed reading recently?
