St Ives School
Group status: we're sleeping
This is the 2nd year we have shadowed the Carnegie and we have students from our reading groups in Years 7-9 involved in all kinds of activities. Our first year was very successful and we hope to make this year even better.
On Tuesday 27th June, our reading groups held presentations in the school library on the Carnegie shortlist. Based on the liveliness and intelligence of two performances, our judges - the school librarian, a visiting author and an ex-student - awarded the Year 7 group's performance on Clay a runner-up prize and judged the Year 9's Turbulence presentation the overall winner.
As far as the actual books were concerned, a majority thought that Tamar was the best book on the shortlist.
We had a very successful, entertaining day, and are looking forward to the actual announcement.
