Book Clubbers

We're reading the 8 books on the 2013 Carnegie shortlist. So far everyone who has read Wonder by R.J. Palacio loves it, but other books attract less enthusiasm: we thought A Boy and a Bear in a Boat was too whimsical, while In Darkness had too much graphic violence. We usually have a game of Story Cubes, and often the Laser Turtle puts in an apperarance! We bring our lunch, and if Mrs Quick's remembered, there will be chocolate.

Title: War Boy: a Country Childhood

War Boy is an atmospheric semi-autobiographical account of Foreman's early childhood in Pakefield during World War Two. It is a charming tale of growing up in a sleepy seaside town that is transformed by the War. This area of coastline was targeted by Ge
