The Smell of Other People's Houses
"The Smell of Other People's Houses" is an incredible book from 4 points of view. The story was told from Ruth's, Dora's, Alyce's and Hank's view. Each character explains their story and they all link together in an extraordinarily interesting way. Ruth has a hard life with her Gran, Dora wishes she will never have to see her dad again, Alyce wants to dance but help her dad and Hank wants to run away.
I loved this book because every character was linked so perfectly together but all had a contrasting story to tell. I didn't have a favourite character because every main character all had their own personality and were all different although had similar connections. I like them all. However I really liked both Dumpling and Bunny. Although they were not main characters I think Dumpling was really thoughtful and kind to both Ruth and Dora. I liked Bunny too because she sounded really fun and I thought her name suited her a lot.
This book spreads awareness for domestic abuse, alcohol and teenage pregnancy; which I think is really useful to both boys and girls around 13.
I rate this book 5 stars because it was amazing!
