The Smell of Other People's Houses
The title is catchy and the cover will be remembered!! This book is set in Alaska in the 1970s. It is narrated from four distinct point of views.
It really is a beautiful book. It’s about growing up; it’s about following one’s dreams; it’s about imperfect families; and it’s about forgiveness.
"Did you save him?"
"I tried. Maybe he saved me?"
"Yeah, that's what we do, isn't it? We save each other."
This also shows how this book is so moving and breathtaking!!
The way the author narrated the four different characters is like for every person there was a change of voice. This is what I loved about this book, it's unique and original.
I would give this book a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5
