Matthew, King Edward VI Grammar School
Beck is an amazing book about a journey, overshadowed by the rocky beginning which I believe is mainly unnecessary. It is interesting how the two authors have merged as one and the ending is exactly what is needed.
The book has a disturbing beginning which does not reflect Beck or his future. These 50 pages make this book unacceptable for many readers. The story moves on quite regularly but settles at the end. Beck struggles in some situations while in others cannot move on.
This emotional story follows Beck with the theme of turning from a boy into a man. I have to say that it is a very long journey in the land of the free and goes from strength to strength but is a bit quick in finishing. It is a shame that the book starts quite darkly.
Peet and Rosoff have written a moving story that is sadly overshadowed by unnecessary content. Otherwise it is a well written book.
