Ms Fisher, Read and Feed
This is an incredibly good book which conjured up an amazing sense of place. You take an amazing journey with the central character which is at time painful, sad and heart breaking. The story of how this book was written is also tragic with Meg Rosoff finishing the book for Mal Peet after he died from cancer. It did have some graphic scenes of child abuse in though.
