A Great Big Cuddle

A great big cuddle is a collection of poems for the very young, which is illustrated by Chris Riddell and written by Michael Rosen. The book is full of short fun poems some of the poems do not use real words but instead use sounds to create an enjoyable rhythm. These poems are fun and written so the poems are pleasant to listen to.
I think the illustrations in this book are cute and fun, the colour and size of font varies to suit the poem that it corresponds with. The synergy between text, font and image is amazing and this would make the book appeal to the target audience. The pictures are detailed and most of them large and colourful as this would, also, appeal to the audience. I enjoyed the way Chris Riddell sometimes used animals instead of humans in the pictures.
I would recommend this book to be read to children aged 2 month olds to 2 year olds because, as the name suggests the poems are aimed at a very young audience. It could also be read by 4 year olds as an introduction to phonetic sounds. I rate this book 7/10.
