The Smell of Other People's Houses
I loved this book! It is exactly the kind of book that I like to read, about a couple of small town communities and the lives of people in the communities. I really got involved in each of the characters’ stories, and as with Salt to the Sea the multiple narratives really drew me in as a reader.
I think my favourite character was Ruth; her situation is an extremely emotional and difficult one and I felt that the author really conveyed it realistically for the context in which it was set.
I enjoyed wondering how the paths of the characters would cross, although it was slightly predictable at the end, but the emotions in this story were fantastic and I had a good cry at the end as a result!
