Eleanor, Woodroffe Book Surfers
Although I didn't dislike reading Release, I thought that it was fragmented and had a strange supernatural sub-plot that barely related to the main story. The story of Adam was quite interesting, but honestly, if you take away the sub-plot it is a rather average book about a day in someone's life. I also didn't think that I could relate to the characters that well, and the way they spoke and interacted seemed a bit stiff, and was something I could never imagine myself or another teen saying. On the other hand, it was interesting to step into the shoes of someone who was impacted by an environment of heavy religious views, and how Adam coped with being gay and having pious parents. I think that if the sub-plot about the spirit was better developed and explained, and linked to the story better, I would've enjoyed this book more.
