The Smell of Other People's Houses
The Smell of Other People's Houses was a book that I greatly enjoyed; it was mostly based on family problems and this is a subject that I find interesting. It showed the power of family and friends through emotional times and the author kept you engaged from the very first page. This book is narrated by four different youths and this point was something that I liked and disliked at the same time: at times it became confusing as to keeping track of who was who and their links to everyone else. Another reason I enjoyed this book was because the author really put needing family and being away from family into such a deep perspective that, at times, I could feel my heart being wrenched from my chest. However, a piece of criticism I would give is: the ending seemed too rushed. Although the ending was fairly good and quite emotional, the author had quite a big buildup for something that I thought could have been better. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes reading about family issues and emotional situations.
