Night Shift

This book has lots of black and white. This is so that children know how it feels when you have depression. Also the writer has used lots of smoke to show that the depression is coming near them or is surrounding them so that they feel sad. In most of the pictures the character is sad and doesn't really like her life. In one of the pictures the dragon is shown really big however the girl was really small to show that their fear is really big. In the pictures there are lots of shadows to show that wherever they go their illness doesn't go away from them or it doesn't leave them. In other pictures the girl seem to be far away from the dragon to show that she has find a solution to her illness. Also in the last picture the dragon has changed to a bird to show that if you move your fear everything seems the same size. A dragon was a good choice because it is a strong creature that shows how big the depression is for people, and it is not easy to get over it. The feather represents hope and that there are solutions to this illness. The pictures are smudgy charcoal to show darkness. All the pictures express emotions. There are only some flashes of colour to show that there is some hope even though the darkness is surrounding them.
