The Wolves of Currumpaw

The Wolves of Currumpaw by William Grill is a book about a pack of wolves led by their cunning leader, Lobo with his mate, Blanka. These wolves are hunted down and a lot of money is put on Lobos death. Lobo failed to be caught until Seton arrived and with a cruel plan that sadly, killed Lobo and Blanka leaving Seton to feel really guilty for his actions. This book is based on a true story.
I think this is a wonderful book, it is well presented and illustrated with a wonderful story line. The illustrations of this book, especially the detailed, double-spread landscapes, are beautiful and fascinating with hidden details in the background. The pictures seem sketchy yet smooth and he managed to create a strong powerful atmosphere just by the colours he used. Every picture he drew was well laid out and went with the rest of the page and the text looked perfect with the drawings. He also manages to give each wolf a serious, deathly expression which makes each character look awesome. He was also really clever with what to draw and where to draw it. The comic style pictures are very witty and describe a story perfectly even without any words near it and I like how instead of doing heavy detailed shading, he did a light simple technique making it nice to look at.
I would recommend this book to 8+ as it may have a bit too much gore, blood and text for really young people but I think anybody else will enjoy it because it has a good story line and amazing illustrations making it never boring to read. If I saw this book I would probably get it.
