The Wolves of Currumpaw
The wolves of Currumpaw gave me a story i had never read or heard of before with a beautifully strange art style.
The book is about a wolf named by the people of Currampaw, Lobo and his mate Blanca. It is written in third person and tells the story of how a treacherous wolf hunter finally captures him using Blanca, but then realizing how cruel the whole thing was, decided to change his ways and devoted the rest of his life to preserving the world and all its species.
I thought it was rather interesting how the artist used a mixture of close ups, a wordless comic book style, and vast beautiful crayon landscapes. whats also interesting is the color scheme changes throughout the book. For example, in the beginning of the book (which shows the background to the story) is a more red one (perhaps to show the violence in those first few scenes) and then one he present story starts the scheme changes to a lighter, blue color.
An overall good read with suitable art
I'd recommend it to children aged 9-13(+)
