Charlotte , Pilton Shadowers
Beck is a very detailed book that I would highly recommend to older readers. I really love how the book transports you to Canada and America; aided by the use of terms used in the 1929s/1930s. Moreover the use of flashbacks and foreshadowing really emphasises the fear that Beck feels throughout. However, I would argue that the book is not appropriate for younger readers as it does contain adult themes, but for anyone older looking for a great read that is warming, chilling and really pulls your heart strings I would recommend without delay.
Personally, I do find that everything happens slightly too quickly and did have to quite often re-read a page or two- which in some cases did start to become quite irritating. If you are into faster paced books than this is probably a bonus, but for me it just happens a bit too speedily. I would give it a 7/10.
