Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth

Frank Cottrell Boyce takes the sad story of Laika, the first living creature to orbit Earth, and uses it as inspiration for a story about the importance of home. it's brilliantly funny and extraordinarily moving. Prez is living with a temporary foster family when he opens the door to Sputnik. Prez sees him as an alien - with some odd fashion choices - whilst everyone else sees a dog. Over the course of the summer Prez and Sputnik have some amazing adventures in order to find the ten best things about earth - so that they can save it, and reunite Prez with his grandfather. This book may not be the most advanced read, but it will stretch your imagination and be an incredibly enjoyable read.
