The Bone Sparrow
The Bone Sparrow is the deeply moving tale of a young boy named Subhi, who has lived in a refugee camp for his entire life, and how his world is turned upside down when he meets a young girl from the other side of the fence.
It is an incredible book that cleverly incorporates fact into fiction and particularly highlights the horrific treatment of refugees in camps around the world. It's difficult to believe that in some places, refugees are treated like disgusting criminals, especially in modern day society. It is a beautiful story that never strays from the point yet still manages to bring some unexpected humour into the writing.
Zara Fraillon does a fantastic job in creating awareness for her cause in this deep, beautiful novel. The Bone Sparrow is gripping with countless plot twists that will leave you utterly breathless. For anyone aged 12+, this book is absolutely unmissable.
