The Smell of Other People's Houses

I really enjoyed this book because it explored in detail into people's lives and makes you understand the challenges in life some people have to go through. Between the 4 different stories they all express how much family is needed, for example when one of the girls was pregnant she was disowned by her family and sent to a nunnery. Also the 3 brothers ran away as they felt they weren't part of a family at home so they had to make their own family however one of them split off and they now needed each other the most. What makes this story so interesting is that the children managed to cross paths with each other in their troubled lives and were able to connect through pain and despair. Overall this book left a big effect on me and made me realise that some people don't have a strong family unit as an upbringing and it shouldn't be taken for granted.
