Salt to the Sea

This was an amazing book. It is brilliantly written and documents an event that is almost unknown by the public. The way it is written, using multiple accounts to get several different perspectives on the disaster is, despite being something of a cliche, still very interesting and is a good way of the author describing all aspects of the story, instead of the one-sided experience a single narrator would have given. I really enjoyed reading this book and I think it is one of the best books this year. The stark writing brilliantly describes the situation in Germany at the end of World War Two. This book is a masterpiece, an entertaining read as well as a brilliantly informative historical novel.
