The Bone Sparrow

I have just finished "The Bone Sparrow" by Zana Fraillon. "The Bone Sparrow" is about refugees that live in camp in tents. The idea of the book didn't really entice me in the first place as its not something I usually read however this award is about trying new books so I gave it my best shot. When the book began I found it to drag on a bit and I didn't feel like I connected to any of the characters at all. Then when the book progressed I developed a love for some of the characters and hate for some of the other characters. By the time I had finished the book I loved it. I had come to love the story line and the description of the book. I could really picture the horrible conditions they lived in. Towards the end something major happens however I do not want to spoil the ending but the ending is my favorite part. the rebel from the other prisoners really made the book surreal. Having the character come in from the outside world really emphasized how mistreated they really where and I love the idea of this book now. I love this book and would recommend it!
