The Bone Sparrow
I hope this book wins the award as it warmed and put sorrow into my heart. The warming was from Jimmie who came and cheered up the boy in a detention camp, but the sorrow was from the fact that I know this is actually going on in the world.
I love Jimmie a girl from the outside world who is free to wonder( within reason) where ever she likes and one day she finds a hole in the fence and meets Sabhi. she brings him hot chocolate, picnics and her mums book.I fell sorry for both the characters as both of them have lost a parent.
Sabhi is the boy from the camp who is warmed by Jimmie and he is giving hope that he can be set free. his mum is always asleep and his sister is cruel to him like any sibling would and he hopes his dad will come back, but he knows he is dead.
Then there is a dramatic scene at the end with a fire and death, as well as Jimmie disaster that ended her up in hospital. But she end happily but not so happily for Sabhi as he is still in the camp. But at least he gets to see the Northern lights!
I loved it and I hope its wins!
