Mr Lewis, Stoke Prior Owls
This is a story of an ordinary happy family. Their world was turned upside down by war. They lost their father and needed to escape the war to stay safe.
The author states that this story comes from many different stories. It seems that this would have similar themes for all families leaving their homes and travelling vast distances to seek safety.
Their belongings get less and less, they face challenges and difficulties. Crossing borders and facing threats.
Will they find a home they feel safe in?
This beautifully illustrated book is perfect for our Year 5 group trying to make sense of the refugee crisis.
