Maddie, Pool Hayes Academy
I loved this book! The main character Annabelle told her story so convincingly. The way she had to grow up, unravel the web of lies to protect the town recluse, Toby, for the sake of justice was written very powerfully, but very realistically. The best part of the story for me was when Annabelle put all the pieces together and realised Betty fatal demise!
It made me think about the damage lies can do, how one lie leads to another, how people who are different, get treated differently, so unfairly. This story contained some very strong themes such as bullying and prejudice, right and wrong, but how there are ways of doing the right thing even if you are outnumbered, in the real world.
