The story within this book is quite fast-paced and isn't in very deep detail. However, saying that, the emotion behind the story really creates an impact. The illustrations create an image that show the characters' feelings and how the characters would think from their perspective. I also think that the writing on top of the pictures shows me the characters' opinions and gives me a feeling of their sadness. The pictures/drawings are in a neat block effect, making it easy to understand the story. I wouldn't necessarily need the pictures to follow the story clearly. I wouldn't recommend this book to people of a younger age as it is quite overwhelming and moments happen suddenly which could unsettle people of a younger age, but I think if it was read to you by an adult it would change my mind. The story is beautiful and makes me think of how lucky I am to not have to leave the country I love and live in. I would rate this book 4 stars for its illustrations and impact.
